CAMERA CALL: The Power Plant launches free Winter 2023 exhibitions and programming

Three new exhibitions include local, Indigenous and BIPOC artists working in painting, film, photography, sculpture and more

WHAT

The Power Plant Contemporary Art Gallery is re-opening its doors for its completely free to visit Winter 2023 exhibitions on February 3, 2023. We are inviting cameras to come get an exclusive first-look at this new season - featuring stunning and thought-provoking works of both local and international artists alike - today, February 2, 2023.

There are three exhibitions launching simultaneously: notable Cree Edmonton-based artist Brenda Draney’s largest exhibition to-date, Drink from the river, UK-based Amartey Golding’s first-ever solo exhibition in Canada, In the comfort of embers, and a group exhibition comprised of all Ontario-based artists, in parallel. Bringing together six artists, including Toronto-based artist and writer Simon Fuh, emerging Trinidadian artist Anique Jordan, and Mi’kmaq (Metepenagiag Nation) settler artist and educator Julia Rose Sutherland, the group exhibition presents a variety of different mediums, like film, sculpture and photography.
